Week Starting 14th December

By now, you should have all your initial footage! The main task of the week should be constructing a rough edit - putting all your footage in the right order in i-Movie. Getting to this stage means that you are in a good position to create a class product.

If you are not at this stage, then your priority is getting to this stage. You may be able to come in on Thursday or even early on next week - if this is something you want to do, then see Rachel as a matter of urgency, as we need to co-ordinate who is coming in and to ensure that you can access your computer when you come in.....

I will be auditing your progress the first lesson back - so make sure we get the New Year off to a good start.

Other areas to work on:

  • outside of class, go over your blog and make sure it is complete - check the list and check your content - get all that research and planning in good shape
  • make sure you have your copyright free music to edit to - you cannot really edit and then add music - often the timings are out and you need to re-edit!!!

This is your coursework and you get what you put into it - effort and time usually yield good marks, so please make me happy as we break up for Christmas and then you too can enjoy a well-earned break!

Instructions : Week Starting 7th December

This is a week when you should be out filming! Your main focus this week is to get all your footage by next Monday, 14th December. Obviously, this will require a lot of commitment outside the lesson BUT the product does count for 60% of your marks for this section of the course and you don't get something for nothing!

Obviously, when you have some footage, please download it onto your Mac asap, so you don't lose it.

You need to ensure you use lesson time efficiently. You can:

  • edit your footage (you need your soundtrack to do this)
  • ensure all research is done
  • ensure all planning is done and on your blog.....

On Friday, you should add a post entitled 'Production Update' and log what you have done in terms of production and how it has gone.... Why not take some photos of yourselves in action and add them to this post???

On Tuesday, I will check your blogs – all RESEARCH should be complete and evidenced on your blog. If you need help scanning material or adding images or clips to your posts, please see one of us in class.

You should also keep working on your PLANNING and try and ensure all of this is placed on your blog by next Tuesday. Again, if you need material scanned, please hand it in during the lesson with your name on the back. Use the sheets you have to guide what you need to do.

Research and Planning: Week starting 23 Nov

This week you should have all your research done and evidenced on your blog and be busy planning. You should have a rough draft of your storyboard. However, the reality is far from this and you are currently behind and in danger of losing marks for lack of effort.

It is up to you to put this right and this will require a lot of your own time this week.

In class you will be given a list of the second raft of planning activities - mainly making lists and schedules. All of these can be scanned and placed on your blog.

The aim is to be out filming next week but you won't be if the planning and research are not completed. I will also be contacting home this week to update parents etc on your lack of progress if such is the case.

Tuesday 17 November - To Do!

Whilst there is no class today, as I am on a trip with Yr 13 to Bradford, you still have plenty of work to be getting on with!

Your main task is to get on with your research and post some of it on your blogs! I gave you a list on Friday outlining what you need to find out. You need to do as much of this as possible, so that on Thursday, we can start talking about planning!

Just something to check - please spellcheck your blogs! Please use a capital "I" when referring to yourself and not "i". Please check that your font is big enough and easy enough to read! You can go in and edit any posts you don't think come up to scratch.

See you Thursday and make sure there is a lot of progress on your blog.

First Post and Preliminary Task

Now you've set up your blog, you will want to post your first entries...

In your first entry, introduce yourselves and state which project you have decided to do and why. Add any initial ideas you have already at this stage. You can add a quick picture of yourselves if you want but don't spend too long on this. That's all you need - easy or what? Don't forget to use the labels box - for topic and people contributing to the post!

Second entry - start a new post and entitle it Preliminary Task. Briefly oultine what the task was and what you had to do. You will then need to upload your video clip - see Rachel or Nikki if you are unsure how to achieve this. Then add some reflection on your prelim - think about what you think worked well and anything that either doesn't work well or could be better... It doesn't have to be long - just a brief word or two... Do that labelling again!

Now you are ready to move on to the research section - make sure you read your notes and work on this at home, as well as at college, as it is worth 20% of the marks for the coursework!!

Welcome!

Welcome to Blog Central for AS Opening Sequences for 2009!

Your first task is to set up a group blog for your project (one per group) and link it in to this one. Then you need to give me the FULL URL, your gmail address and your password. This is so I can access your blog and leave feedback regularly. Make sure that everyone in your group has these details too!

Why not customise your blog to reflect your project and put a group photo in your first entry to personalise it?

Note that there is a labels box at the bottom of each posting section. For each post, try and fill this in. Add the names of the individuals who have contributed to that partiuclar post (some posts may be made by an individual, some by all the group and some by several members). This is especially important fro a group project. Also try and tag according to what the entry is about: introduction, planning, research, production, post-production, audience testing, evaluation etc. This, then, lists all entries under these headings at the side and makes it really easy to find things!

Also, in the Add A Gadget section, you can add a bloglist and this will allow you to create a link on your blog to this central one - a quick click is all it will take to keep you aware of what you should be doing!!!

I hope you really enjoy keeping your blogs - have fun!
